Congratulations to Katie Melgaard for being the December Staff of the Month
What inspires you? I try to get inspiration from a variety of places. I love reading books or listening to podcasts with a positive message. I’m often inspired by the students' energy, creativity, and success. Hearing about interesting projects that the other teachers are implementing is also inspiring to me.
What’s a school sport or activity you enjoy watching and why?
Anything that the students are in is fun to watch. I enjoy sports’ games, musicals, robotics competitions, etc… I find it really enjoyable to see all the work and effort that the students have put into the activity!
If you were given a superlative when you were in school, what would it have been?
I always had my nose in a book, so I think a superlative I could have earned was “Most likely to be caught reading during class”.
What is your dream vacation?
I love exploring new places, but I also love returning to places I’ve really enjoyed visiting. I think my dream vacation would be to go somewhere new, but stay there long enough to be able to relax in that environment. I’ve always wanted to visit the Galapagos Islands.
What is your favorite television show/movie?
There are so many good ones! I’m currently watching Ted Lasso and loving it!
What was the first album you ever purchased?
I don’t know if it was exactly the very first one, but I remember being really excited to buy Garth Brooks’ “In Pieces” when I was young.
If there is one person dead or alive that you could have dinner with, who would it be and why?
I don’t know if I could pick. I think it would be really interesting to have dinner with a “old time” scientist to see if we teach about them in an accurate way. Someone like Sir Isaac Newton. I would also be really interested in conversing with Lise Meitner or Rosalind Franklin, since I’ve read so much about what they went through and love to hear their perspective.
Thank you Mrs. Melgaard for everything you do for our students and schools!

Reminder: Yearbook pictures for 7-12 grade students in activities tomorrow AND 6th-8th Grade Choir & VEX IQ.
