School News
MCC Families, I am sure all of our families are anxiously awaiting news about school this upcoming Fall. We are as well. As we wait, we have been studying recommendations and guidance and working hard on all three scenarios described by state to help plan for the upcoming year. School will definitely look different this fall than "normal". If school is in person, we will have to maximize our spaces by spreading children out, we may have to change some rules regarding transportation. There may be times students have to wear masks for everyone's safety. We encourage you to start thinking about how you can help with all of this. We will need your help. This school year we will truly continue the mantra we used last spring, "We are in this together." Definitely take time in the next couple of weeks to do some planning in your households. The state will share with us which of the three plans districts across the state can start with the week of July 27. One plan has everyone return. One plan has a hybrid schedule (some kids come and some kids distance learn with a rotation). One plan is distance learning. Depending on the plan established we will need to gather information from families. Some planning questions to think about while we wait: If we return to school, does your child have any health conditions that would require them to distance learn? If we are back in school, are you able to transport your own child(ren) to school and pick them up? If we are on a hybrid schedule, can your workplace or your family accommodate a schedule in which some days are in school and some days students are distancing learning? If we are distancing learning, what improvements can we make to have the experience better than last spring? If we have a hybrid rotation, will I have someone to watch my child or help my child on days they are not at school? We also encourage you take time in the coming weeks to have your child wear a mask around the house and in public spaces so they get used to wearing a mask. We are not sure what final requirements will come forward, but the more everyone gets used to this practice, the easier it will be for your child to adjust. Please know we are working very hard purchasing personal protection items, cleaning supplies, adjusting procedures, adding signage, increasing safety measures, developing plans, ordering curriculum and school supplies, and examining our systems so we are ready. After the announcement from the state we will take time to share our plans. We will post them on the school website and share them with you. We will also start contacting you to ask some questions in regards to school, share transportation requirements, and how you can help us make everything work. Thank you for your patience as we all wait for news from the state. If you have questions feel free to call the district office. We are open Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sincerely, Jeffrey Lund Superintendent/Elementary Principal
