As you all have heard our athletic/activities season has been put on pause for the next four weeks, starting Friday at 11:59 pm. We hope during these next four weeks the numbers stop increasing and begin to decline, and we can return to all our activities as soon as possible. As we move forward, we will continue to do what we can to provide our students with opportunities to be involved, to be together, and to be great. Greatness is defined b how you deal with adversity, and I have no doubt that our school, community, coaches, advisors, student athletes, fine arts participants and families will show how great they are as we move through this challenging period of pause. Take care of one another, stay positive, and keep working hard every day. We look forward to the return of our activities and fine arts and know that they will be better than ever soon.

11-19-2020 MCC Families, This letter contains important information regarding our school schedule between Thanksgiving Break and Christmas Break. Our plan is to continue operating school with the same hybrid schedule we ran in November through the Christmas Holiday break. Our school board met and discussed how our current system was working. We have had ongoing check-ins with public health and discussed the situation with our school leadership team as well. We are very proud of our staff and our families for following our safety procedures which is allowing us to still be able to continue school in this hybrid setting. We will be constantly monitoring how things are working and this is all contingent on us staying adequately staffed and families following protocols of staying home if sick or staying home if named close contacts. So far our systems have been working well. Please continue to follow safety measures outside of school in the community and in your homes so that we can continue having in person opportunities for our students. One important note: We need our parents help for when our hybrid students are home. Teachers are providing students work and taking valuable time to explain what needs to be complete; however, we had a low percentage of work completed and turned in this past week. As a result we have a lot of students on our deficiency list this week because they did not turn in their work. Please take time to check in on your child and make sure they are doing homework. Teachers are using e-mail and Google Classroom to remind your child. If you aren’t sure what needs to be done, check in with your child’s teacher especially on the Wednesdays when they are available to assist students and parents. Next Week’s school Calendar: Meal Sign Ups go to: https://forms.gle/rJsff6Jnp8Mh83hC9 Monday, November 23: Head Start, K-4 all students, and 5-12 Group 1 students Tuesday, November 24: Preschool, K-4 all students, and 5-12 Group 2 students Wednesday, November 25: All students at home in distance learning that day. Teachers will provide work for your child. Please be sure that they are completing their work at home and returning it to school on their next scheduled school day. November 30 - December 22: We will continue to follow our current hybrid schedule. Please see the attached calendar which identifies which days each student group attends school. #MCCSTRONG Superintendent Jeffrey Lund

Reminder 1111
11-11-2020 MCC Families, I wanted to take a moment to provide a general update to families. I know that many of you may be feeling anxious or have questions about how things are going at school or what we are thinking about. Each day, we are focused on doing whatever it takes to help the children in our community. This pandemic doesn’t make that task easy, but our MCC team remains committed to caring for and educating your child in the best way we can under these circumstances. We are still on track to remain in the hybrid setting through Thanksgiving break. Our school board has a regular meeting on November 17 and our leadership team meets on November 18. There will be discussions in both those meetings in regards to how things are working and what we are planning between Thanksgiving and Christmas Break. Ideally by Thanksgiving we are hopeful county numbers will level off and start going down. That is really up to all of us in school and out of school. We must get everyone in the community following the safety protocols of wearing masks, maintaining social distance, staying home when not feeling well, and washing hands often. School remains very safe in terms that we are not seeing spreading in schools. Our school families and staff have been doing very well not coming to school when sick and following expectations. We have had two cases requiring notifications and close contact quarantines. Everyone is doing what is needed and that has allowed us to continue with schooling in our hybrid setting. Athletics has been a hot topic. We are following guidance from MDE and MDH and will continue to hold activities while we remain in school under all in person or hybrid settings. There are many benefits to school activities for student physical and mental health. We have safety protocols to screen and maintain a safe environment. We have good communication with other schools. There may be times we have to cancel events or not allow fans out of precaution. However, we will maintain activities for our students as long as we remain in a setting where we have students at school. I am sure seeing some neighboring schools going distance has made you wonder if we are. Again, we remain committed to remaining in school in this hybrid setting for the time being. I have been proud of our families and our staff for remaining flexible, remaining understanding that everyone is doing their best. Everything we are doing and you are doing is important to help us get through this. There is a light at the end of this long tunnel. We remain committed to getting through all this together. #mccstrong If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns please feel free to call and let us know. Thank you, Jeffrey Lund Superintendent/Elementary Principal
