MCC Families,
Like you, we are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Texas earlier today. We share in the heartbreak we are all feeling for the families who have lost a loved one due to this senseless act of violence.
School should and must be a place where students feel completely safe and secure. We have a strong relationship with county law enforcement and will be in contact with them to check in our school buildings the remaining week of school as a precaution and to help our students and staff feel safe.
We know that children and teens will process this news in different ways. Counselors are available at each of our school buildings to assist students who may need some extra support. We strongly encourage any students to stop by our social worker or counselor offices at any time.
Please join us in keeping the students, staff, and families of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District in our thoughts at this time.
Sincerely,
MCC School Administration

We know you have been patiently waiting!
Check out http://www.buildmccstrong.org/ to learn more about our new plan to address space needs and safety needs. The website shares our Challenges, Solutions, What's different, Tax Information, and FAQs.
Through more community and staff involvement in the planning stages our new plan costs less, meets our needs, and there are many things better this go around.
70% of the project will be paid for by the State of Minnesota (Ag2School) and the top four tax paying entities (Enbridge, Great Lakes Transmission, Ottertail Power, and the Soo-Line Railroad). This is an incredible investment in our community by these entities.
Informational Brochures are hitting the mail and should arrive next week. We encourage anyone with questions to contact school, a school board member, or e-mail us at: buildmccstrong@mccfreeze.org.
Ballots will be mailed at the end of June.
Our election will be August 9!

We are very proud of the MCC staff and students today for coming together to help the fire department in their efforts to help save some homes along the east side of Newfolden. Water is within a few feet ofthe homes along the river.
Kids today, along with homeowners, the firefighters, some staff members, and community volunteers helped make and place thousands of sandbags to hopefully safeguard homes in the community.
We were already short handed with staff today and I know with this crazy spring everyone's stress tolerance is fragile right now. The recent storms and all this water certainly add to that. Thank you all for being understanding and making everything work to allow the fire department to use our students' helping hands.
The kitchen staff made boxed lunches to help supply food for kids and firefighters out at the scene.
Paraprofessional Bobbi Horien took a very long shift supervising students at the sand filling station and jumping in herself to help with the sand filling efforts.
Office staff helped make sure we had teachers in all rooms covered here.
Wayne and Leonard helped shuttle our kids on buses where needed.
Thank you kids for all the help and hard work today! It was greatly appreciated by the city, the fire department, and the community members.
If I missed anyone, thank you.
Fire Chief Cody Underdahl noted he thinks those homes are secure for now. The department has many pallets of sandbags filled in case they need more over the weekend.
If the situation changes and the fire department needs volunteers to protect other areas in town. We may use our alert system to let our parents and students know. Hopefully it is not needed, but the school will use whatever tools we have to support community efforts.
On behalf of Cody and the Newfolden Fire Department he sends a thank you to everyone for their efforts today.
Superintendent Lund
